Head Trauma

Brain injury is leading cause of death and disability for Canadians under the age of 40 Approximately 1.5 million Canadians live with the effects of an acquired brain injury .The annual incidence of ABI is greater than that of Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, HIV/AIDS and Breast Cancer combined.
The number of affected people continue to grow.
People are impacted physically by Acquired Brain Injury, or ABI with sleep issues and fatigue, with headaches and hand-eye coordination, and even with general dizziness and lack of balance.
Cognitively, people can have a much harder time making decisions and plans. Learning and concentration can become more difficult, and understanding information can take longer.
People note emotional changes like having a shorter temper, or are prone to sudden and inexplicable mood swings, among other issues.
Quite often the behavior changes with behavior becoming more risky and impulsive. Sometimes there’s a lack of filter, which can lead to difficulty in social and work relations.
Head trauma can take months, even years to recover from. Sometimes, it lasts a lifetime.
Neurofeedback helps to manage the symptoms of ABI (acquired brain injury) by helpingto stabilize inefficient brainwaves. Once the brainwaves are trained to work at their optimum levels, there is a noticeable improvement in many of the negative issues thatwere affecting their lives.
By working to train the brain, and to optimize the brainwaves, neurofeedback helps to manage the symptoms of ABI and to promote a healthy and balanced brain.

Depression

Feeling down or depressed from time to time happens to most people. When Classic signs of depression are: feeling overwhelmed, worn down, fatigued, sad, isolated, foggy brained, or disconnected from life. Sometimes, we just can’t shake these feelings on our own. This is not a small problem, either. Over 19 million of us deal with depression on a daily basis.
Research has shown that depression is neurological, not psychological. Certain brain patterns are frequently linked to depression. Neurofeedback is a drugless and non-invasive natural approach to changing those brainwave patterns.
By using neurofeedback to train the brain to regulate the brainwaves, the brain stabilizes and the abnormal brainwave activity diminishes. Through this, mood is improved and outcomes are optimized.

Anxiety and Stress

Because of the busyness in today’s world, there are constant stressors impacting the body every second of everyday, and it is a LOT to take in.
Anxiety sufferers are often overwhelmed, exhausted, and stressed out.
As this happens, the body becomes overloaded and our brainwaves can become overstimulated and abnormal.
The anxious brain seems to never quiet down. It just doesn’t stop thinking.
Neurofeedback helps to stabilize and normalize brainwaves.
Neurofeedback targets the brainwaves responsible
for emotions, decreasing anxiety and calming the mind. Learning to decrease anxiety gives suffers hope as they take control of their lives.

Sleep

Until recently, insomnia was studied from a behavioral perspective, but as this problem grows, new research and insights have been discovered. Even theCenters for Disease control has weighed in, calling lack of sleep a public health problem. Insomnia can disrupt daily life by causing irritability, exhaustion, tiredness, and difficulty staying focused. If being tired all of the time isn’t bad enough, this affliction is also believed to be a risk factor for other diseases.

Right now, 10-15% of the GLOBAL population is affected by recurring insomnia.

We underestimate the importance of sleep. While there is no magic number for sleep duration, eight hours is a good target for an adult. During the first four hours of sleep, your body restores itself. Then it takes an additional four hours of sleep for your brain to restore itself. Good sleep is a lot easier to accomplish if your brain is working efficiently.

But why is this? What is going on with the brainwave patterns?  Recent studies suggest that in cases of insomnia, the brain is unable to process information properly due to cortical hyperarousal. This creates abnormal brainwave patterns.

Clinical studies have shown neurofeedback to be an effective, drugless, natural approach to insomnia, especially for people who have struggled for years. If you are ready to be able to fall asleep and stay asleep, for improved energy, health and wellbeing, neurofeedback is a powerful tool for helping people fall asleep and stay asleep.

PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a serious type of anxiety caused by an extremely stressful event or series of events.
From anxiety and depression to fear, guilt and shame, the emotional toll impacts daily lives, careers and relationships. As a result, most people who suffer from PTSD are looking for an effective way to treat their symptoms so they can get back to living a normal life.
Quite often, there is only limited benefit after trying various therapies and medication. Neurofeedback trains the brain to produce a calm state as well as regulate stress response. In addition, the specific areas
of the brain affected by PTSD can be targeted, teaching the brain to turn off the stress response. As the brainwave patterns are organized and regulated, the brain begins to function better, leading to better mood, sleep, cognitive function and adaptability in daily life.
